UPDATE: Westbound I-70 reopened at Missouri River Bridge
ROCHEPORT — As of 3:45 p.m., the westbound lane of I-70 at the Missouri River bridge is now open, according to MoDOT Central District.
This comes after an injury crash involving several vehicles blocked the lane. There were multiple tractor trailers blocking the bridge. All traffic was also being rerouted to Highway 40.
According to Boone County Joint Communications, traffic could have been backed up as far as Stadium Boulevard.
Crashes sent multiple people across Mid-Missouri to hospitals Monday. Another crash in Boone County along U.S. 63 happened when a car drove off the roadway and struck a guard rail. Two minors, a 13-year-old and a 16-year-old, were taken to the Women and Children's Hospital with minor injuries.
One woman, 89-year-old Bertelle Gilmore, was taken to University Hospital with moderate injuries after his car was rear-ended by another driver on I-70 eastbound in Cooper County.
Another man, 60-year-old Mitchell Gresham, was taken to University Hospital after his car hit the back of another car and slid off the highway, striking a utility pole.
This is an ongoing story with updates to come.
