Undefeated Columbia Men's Soccer advances to semi-finals
IRVINE, CALIFORNIA - The Columbia Cougars men's soccer team is still undefeated after its 2-0 quarterfinal win over Oklahoma Wesleyan on Wednesday.
The first half was a battle that ended with Oklahoma up 1-0. Columbia came close to putting up the first point, but the Eagles starting goalie, Alex Vidizzoni, made the save.
Khesanio Hall came back with a goal and kept the Eagles up for 30 minutes.
It wasn't until late in the second period when Joey Spotanski for the Cougars evened the score, only four minutes after subbing in.
Vidizzoni's back-to-back saves kept Columbia's offense down until Ximo Gil scored on Spotanski's assist. That would make the final score 2-1.
The win puts the Cougars in their first final-four spot ever. They will head to the semi-finals to compete for a spot in the National Championship against William Carey University on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
