COLUMBIA - Another person connected to the death of Carl DeBrodie pleaded guilty in federal court Wednesday.

Anthony Raymond Kaulana Flores pleaded guilty to one count of falsifying records in a federal investigation. Flores worked at Second Chance Homes, the care facility where DeBrodie lived.

DeBrodie died in 2016, according to court documents, but wasn't reported missing until a year later. The documents said Flores signed a statement falsely saying he had seen DeBrodie alive on April 16, 2017, the day before DeBrodie was reported missing. Flores had also provided false spoken statements as well.

DeBrodie's body was later found on April 24, 2017, encased in concrete inside a storage unit.

Flores could get up to 20 years in federal prison. He previously pleaded guilty to a state charge of making a false report, and was sentenced to 8 months in jail with credit for time served.

In November 2019, Sherry Paulo and Anthony R. Flores pleaded guilty to federal charges for "willfully failing to provide necessary medical care. Both admitted in their plea agreement they did not seek medical care for DeBrodie, and he later died while in Flores’s and Paulo’s home.

In the agreement, Paulo admitted that she put DeBrodie's body in a trashcan and transported it to his residence, where she and Flores "put it in a wooden crate and filled the wooden crate with cement." Later transporting the crate to Paulo’s storage unit.
