MISSOURI- On Wednesday, Governor Mike Parson and his wife Teresa Parson tested positive for COVID-19.

Gov. Parson is quarantining and working from the governor's mansion in Jefferson City, while Teresa Parson returned to their home in Bolivar to quarantine.

Now, leaders are reacting and sharing their support for the couple.

Senator Roy Blunt

Senator Roy Blunt shared his support for Gov. Parson and Teresa Parson in the following tweet just before 6 p.m. on Wednesday.

House Minority Caucus

Democrat Crystal Quade shared the following statement on behalf of the House Minority Caucus in a news release Wednesday evening:

“House Democrats are thankful the governor and first lady are experiencing few symptoms and hope they have quick and complete recoveries. By now nearly all of us have had at least one family member, friend, neighbor or coworker who has contracted COVID-19, and this is news no one ever wants to hear.”

Nicole Galloway

State Auditor and Democratic governor nominee Nicole Galloway sent the following tweet shortly after Parson announced his test results. She had previously sent a tweet praying for Teresa Parson's recovery before the governor's results were public.

Democratic Governors Association

The Democratic Governors Association, a Washington D.C. based organization that supports Democratic governors, released the following statement in a news release on Wednesday evening:

“We hope Governor Parson and Teresa Parson recover quickly. The pandemic is far from over - we have lost over 200,000 Americans, and the virus continues to impact tens of thousands of lives each day. Let this be a reminder to everyone that we need to take this deadly crisis seriously and to mask up, social distance, and wash our hands.”

Rik Combs

Libertarian governor candidate Rik Combs posted this tweet shortly after 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
