Hearnes Center identified as potential alternate care facility
JEFFERSON CITY - Governor Mike Parson held his daily COVID-19 press conference Tuesday afternoon.
At the press conference, he announced that the National Guard has been working since last week to identify potential locations for alternate care facilities.
Parson listed the Hearnes Center in Columbia as a potential location along with several others, mostly in areas such as Kansas City and St. Louis.
He stated there are three requirements for alternate care facilities. The facility must be located in areas with deficient bed counts, be in areas large enough for patient population and be in areas where utilities are available to start immediate construction if necessary.
Parson said state officials are focused on areas with high number of cases.
