Centralia police officer charged with sex crime involving minor
ST. LOUIS - An officer from the Centralia Police Department was charged by federal prosecutors on Tuesday with using interstate commerce in an attempt to illicit sexual conduct with a minor, according to a news release.
Clint Baer, 41, was charged after he contacted what he believed to be the mother of a 14-year-old girl through a social networking site in March 2019.
Over the course of the next few months, Baer exchanged detailed and explicit text messages and phone calls with an undercover FBI agent posing as the child's mother, according to the release.
Baer then traveled to Wentzville on Oct. 7 to engage in sexual activity with the girl and her mother, but was instead arrested and is currently being held in federal custody.
Baer has been removed from duty and had his employment with the City of Centralia terminated, according to a Centralia news release.
